Personal Information

About me

I am currently a postdoctoral fellow in the digital humanities at HUMlab, Umeå University, Sweden. I received my PhD in Film Studies from University College London in 2009, writing my thesis on digital cinema, where I investigated the relationship between different temporalities (of pastness and presentness) and the moving image, particularly enquiring how recent technologies of cinema, such as digital video, CGI and motion capture, change or reconfigure the temporality of the image. My postdoctoral project focuses on avatars in virtual worlds, by which I propose to examine issues of identity, representation and ontology in new media, specifically in the co-constitutive interplay between old and new media.
