The Digital Humanities Observatory was set up in 2008 to function as a knowledge base for digital humanities projects being developed in Ireland. Projects assisted by the DHO are wide ranging, from classics to medieval to early-modern to modern, including text, images, and audio/visual data. Dot Porter, the DHO's Metadata Manager, will talk about the DHO and its methods for supporting projects, including recommendations for encoding standards across all projects, and the development of a projects repository that will enable cross-project searching and visualization.
