project: The Pinnacle of the Medieval Welsh Bardic Tradition? The Poetry of Guto'r Glyn.

From the fifteenth century to the present day, Guto'r Glyn (c.1435/c.1493) has been acknowledged as the greatest exponent of the Welsh praise-poetry tradition, a cultural succession which stretches back to the sixth century. We aim to reconstruct, as far as is possible, the original text of the poems of Guto'r Glyn based on the manuscripts now available: 6,500 lines of verse, in c.160 poems, preserved in c.2300 manuscript copies. project: Archival Sound Recordings

Archival Sound Recordings is the result of a development project to increase access to the British Library Sound Archive's extensive collections. The British Library holds one of the world’s foremost sound archives with a collection of over 3.5 million audio recordings. These come from all over the world and cover the entire range of recorded sound from music, drama and literature, to oral history, wildlife and environmental sounds. [read more]
project: Musicians of Britain and Ireland 1900-1950
Grant Holder:
The project provides recordings of performances by British and Irish musicians made between 1900 and 1950. owing to changes in company policy in the 1930s, their work was gradually excluded and mush of it forgotten. MBI is accessible through an attractive online search interface that also gives access to the complete recorded output of the AHRC Research Centre for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music (CHARM). project: British Newspapers 1620-1900
Grant Holder:
The goal of the British Newspapers 1620-1900 project was to make available on the web a digitised collection of British newspapers that spans all regions of the British Isles and is representative of newspapers published between 1620 and 1900. The intention was to deliver at least a further one million pages of digitised texts and load them to the Gale Cengage Learning website, and increase the content to four million pages of searchable text for pre 1900 newspapers. project: Digitisation of the Independent Radio News Archive
Grant Holder:
Commercial radio in Britain was launched in October 1973 when Independent Radio News (IRN) and its sister organisation, the London Broadcasting Company (LBC) were granted their licences. A joint IRN/LBC archive of programmes and news items was established and this, together with its catalogue, constitutes the archive in its current form. [read more]
project: Cabinet Papers, 1915-1977
Grant Holder:
The Cabinet Papers Project aimed to provide an online resource for learning and research that would make The National Archives’ holdings of the Cabinet Papers available to the public, and in particular to Higher Education and A-level students. The National Archives is now able to provide an entire collection of searchable digitised images of the Cabinet Papers to users of the site as well as providing relevant information and study guidance for both teachers and students of British 20th century history. project: 19th Century Pamphlets Online
Grant Holder:
The aim of the project was to provide researchers, teachers and learners with online access to significant collections of 19th century pamphlets held within UK research libraries. The project drew on the pamphlet holdings of seven research libraries (Bristol, Durham, Liverpool, LSE, Manchester, Newcastle and UCL), choosing collections that focused on the political, social and economic issues of the day. project: The John Johnson Collection: an Archive of Printed Ephemera
Grant Holder:
The project catalogued, conserved and digitised an extensive selection of materials from the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera housed in the Bodleian Library at the University of Oxford. It represented an innovative joint enterprise between the Bodleian Library and ProQuest which resulted in the digitisation of more than 65,000 complete items (well in excess of 150,000 images) from the Collection, accompanied by detailed catalogue records. project: Person Data Repository of the 19th Century
Grant Holder:
The project “Construction of a repository for biographical data on historical persons of the 19th century” – short form: Person Data Repository – enhances the existing approaches to data integration and electronically supported research in biographies. It investigates connecting and presenting heterogeneous information on persons of the “long nineteenth century” (1789–1914). The project's aim is to provide a de-central software system for research institutions, universities, archives, and libraries that allows combined access on biographic information from different data pools.
